The barclayart story
Barclayart emerged from Alan Barclay's obsession with contemporary art practice combined with his passion for photography. Originally from the United Kingdom, Alan has had a longstanding love of Sri Lanka where his wife was born. Colombo and Mount Lavinia are his favourite areas. He is particularly influenced by the architectural work of Geoffrey Bawa and the Sri Lankan artist George Keyt. Alan's interest in Theravada Buddhism combined with expertise in mental health has inspired his practice in neorographic art, addiction issues, and also how these concepts can be conveyed or marketed through the mediums of art and photography.
Our distinctive approach to art
We have an eclectic approach influenced by the artist Paul Klee who described a line as "a dot that's gone for a walk". Photographic influences have been the French-Swiss architectural photographer Hélène Binet and the American artist and photographer Georgia O'Keeffe, in addition to the tropical modernism established by Geoffrey Bawa. This blend of inspirations allows barclayart to create truly unique and thought-provoking pieces.
